We are the activists who drive the LGBTQ+ movement forward and the organizers who sustain hard-won progress.
We embrace the ways that our identities intersect and fight for justice in areas where LGBTQ+ people are most impacted, such as affordable housing, racial and economic disparities, and criminal justice.
We not only fight for rights; we fight for people. We show up everywhere that LGBTQ+ people are. We show up at protests and celebrations. You’ll find us at marches and committee hearings by day and on the dance floor by night.
In the fight for progress, we remain committed to our community and to each other. The National LGBTQ Task Force is a space for organizing and advocacy, and for people to come together and celebrate our LGBTQ+ identities.
From 1973 to 2023 and beyond
The National LGBTQ Task Force has played a significant role in mobilizing, training, organizing – and at times challenging – the LGBTQ+ movement over the past 50 years.
We are proud to have trained thousands of organizers who use their knowledge, passion, and energy to lay the groundwork for the LGBTQ+ rights movement of the 21st century.
Our 50th anniversary comes at a moment when our work and our rights are threatened. The National LGBTQ Task Force is meeting these threats to progress with more strength, unity, and support than ever before.
Meeting this moment head on requires all of us. However difficult, this is a historic opportunity to mobilize organizers and activists and bring new supporters on board as we gear up for the crucial fights ahead.
The National LGBTQ Task Force’s unapologetic intersectional lens drives us to fight for reproductive justice, bodily autonomy, housing justice, criminal justice reform – wherever LGBTQ+ people continue to be disproportionately impacted.
